Tradebuster: Player Rentals

Written by Kimmy Toast.

Many of us growing up enjoyed the convenience of renting movies. You could simply pay a small amount, borrow something for a short time, and then return it for a small fee. Some of us were even lucky enough to rent the surprisingly erotic movie Mulholland Drive. It depicts an excited new actress coming to Hollywood to find the bright lights enticing, while also blurring her own preconceived notions of sexuality and morality.

So what does this have to do with the DelFL? I think we might have a Mulholland Drive on our hands. Was there a rental? And if so, how did this possibly blur the lines of sexuality or morals of the league? While a subpoena has been issued to get more details, many in the league are already crying foul.

Reminiscent of Wendy’s 1994 ‘Where’s the Beef’? campaign, this was just a simple trade between Bo and Yanni featuring Deshaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett. But, if you’ve ever worked with food, especially loads of beef like I have, you know, the more you peel the onion the more it stinks. These two managers originally made a trade on October 26th:

Bo gets: Pat Mahomes, Jacoby Brissett, Melvin Gordon 3, Drake London

Yanni gets: Geno Smith, Dre Day Stevenson, Courtland Sutton, Deshaun Watson

On November 1st they trade back Jacoby Brissett for Deshaun Watson. I thought Blockbuster was closed? But it seems Bo is renting Armageddon whenever he wants to see Ben ride animal crackers down Liv’s navel as if this isn’t a problem.

So why make the trade? I get it, Jacoby probably had his best game of his career so maybe they went back to the trade table and made a whole new deal that had nothing to do with their previous one.

OR...

Rewind (or it will charge you double, that’s a Blockbuster joke) back to October 26th. Bo knows he can only have 2 QB’s on his roster (don’t forget to remind me to subpoena the Commissioner about that rule change that never happened). If he trades for Mahomes he won’t have an active QB for week 8. So, he trades Watson to Yanni for Brissett. Then this week they instantly trade these two QB’s back. Why? Where’s the Beef?(remember the Muholland Drive tie-in? That thread has been unwoven and we may never stitch it back together). If that conditional rental agreement wasn’t made, Bo would have been forced to drop Deshaun Watson opening him up to free agency and any and all managers freely having the rights to claim him. What do you think? A subpoena has been issued.

America’s Most wanted is not a Law Enforcement Entity. All subjects are presumed innocent until found guilty.
