The Mad Arsonist
The Dawgs give the phrase ‘Rock the Vote’ a new meaning.
Bryson DeChambeau, the ‘Mad Scientist’ of the PGA, is known for his out of the box approach to golf. Whether it is having irons all the same height or his distance lengthening weight gain or his awkward putting stance, no one strategizes quite like him. His methods haven’t won him many fans on the Tour amongst his peers (jealous much Rory?), but as his US Open Championship proved, it’s effective.
The Dawgs are a little like DeChambeau. No Owner in the DelFL has traded away the #1 pick and put eggs into one basket quite like him. Lamar Jackson, a blind trust in rookies and raw speed have made this franchise an outlier. There has yet to be yolk on the Dawgs face.
Similarly, he’s not winning over many of his fellow Owners as he, to paraphrase Colonel Slade, “takes a flamethrower to this place.” The place, in this instance, is the DelFL institution itself. The inferno blazed on WeChat as soon as the DelFL Commissioner held a worthy vote on the fate of the Chiefs & Patriots players. A threat of boycott whiplashed the Commissioner back to the years when X would routinely call for insurrection against a ‘Stalinist’ cousin. You know, those good ole’ days.
Thankfully, the flames died down, and while the Dawgs have torched other leagues before (for instance this past year by boycotting Tony’s Sire League), it seems the incident is now behind us and the focus back to the unique style and strategy. The Mad Scientist will remain the most interesting golfer on Tour and our Mad Arsonist (and new #1 in the Power Rankings) likely will remain our most intriguing Owner for years to come.
