Dawgs Golf Rankings Update

Like the old 1-800-CALL-ATT commercials when Yanni steps in the tee box he is thinking only one thing: dial down the middle. No one hit more fairways this trip than Yanni.

1. Steamer – MVP of the trip on and off the course. He played the most rounds, hit the most birds and was the most fun to golf with. He without question played up to his #1 ranking. All around electric performance by Steam. The Dawg Ranks thank him for an incredible time.

2. Sean – I was very impressed by the WeChat footage coming out of Southern Asia. The course was cool af, the swing looked great, all while dropping dime after dime right in Boners grill. Exactly the type of content the ranks are looking for.

3. Keith – White fang had a great showing at the Bay. Top 3 Driver game in the group along with Sean and Del. Very consistent up until the end, but bounced back strong when the struggles came. Great guy to golf with in general. Great for team chemistry.

4. Del – Even though the commish wasn’t able to make the trip, his contributions in years past lock him into #4. Huge fan of Dels game.

5. Birdman – Pretty quiet winter so far but I’ll be tracking this Bird more than most come spring. Looking forward to some rounds in Chicago, Indy & somewhere in-between.

6. Andrew – A new set of irons bumps X way up. The ranks love to hear it. Can’t wait to see them in action and cant wait to see what courses X is poppin birds at in NYC. We here at ranking HQ hope the Seals keep the momentum going. A hot X is good for the league.

7. Britney – Was anyone else up at sun rise running the beach this holiday season? Anyone else sink an eagle from 50’+ lately? She will get back on the course eventually and when she does the Dawg Ranks will not be sleeping on her. Very impressed.

8. Boner – The newly minted champ drops two spots in the ranks after reports of 20 lost balls and a 134. I think this is more 2011 Melo tired from partying with JR the night before, than 2018 no gas in the tank left Melo, not going to overreact too much here. Big congrats on #2. Hope to see more footage soon.

9. Billy –Very quiet winter. Wish he was back in WeChat. Not sure how much he gets to play this spring with the newborn around. I respect his game, we’re just starved for content.

10. Jeff – The popular opinion in Sarasota was that Ruxandra put the Covid breaks on the vacation. The ranks feel Jeff intentionally ducked the rounds to hide flaws in his game. I’ll have a tough time ranking him higher until the evidence says otherwise.

11. Stinky – Does it matter how good he is if no one is around to see it? No denying that he is good. But when will we see him again? Can we at least get some footage?

12. Randy – Randy is better than #12. But for right now due to recency bias (haven’t seen him play in years), and just not really having anywhere else to put him, lands him at #12. Hopefully I can get a round or two in with him before the Bunnathon to re-evaluate. We’ve come a long way from me teeing off in the middle of the fairway!

13. Yanni – Mr. Fairway rockets up 5 places to the top of the slop after an electric showing at the Bay. Like the old 1-800-CALL-ATT commercials, when Yanni steps in the tee box he is thinking only one thing: dial down the middle. The ranks loved his dedication and content prior to the trip and Yanni’s hard work paid off on the course. His swing has great tempo and it’s rarely off line. With some fine tuning who knows high how he can rise in the ranks.

14. Giorgio – Not a lot of news coming from Cremona these days. Can’t wait to add some Italian courses to the Bird Tracker™.

15. Kapo – Lots of ups & downs. Delighted to record bird #1 at the Bay. I learned a lot this trip and it’s hard to think I won’t get better as a result. Big shout out to Steamer for the lessons he gave me & Bo. It was a huge help.

16. Jesse – Quiet winter from Jesse. On my worst days I think I’m a jerk for ranking lower than me. On my best days I think I’m not giving myself enough credit. Hoping to get to Columbus for a few rounds this spring/summer to see for ourselves.

17. Bo – A day after I birdied 17. Bo walked out there and did it himself. Keep in mind Bo spent a fraction of time that I did on golf these past few years. All of that to say Bo is a competitor. What his golf shots lack in aesthetics he makes up for in grit. He is finally getting the ball in the air, and can bite, claw and scratch up and down the course. He parred 9 at Sara Bay, a 470 yard Par 5 using only a pitching wedge! Don’t sleep on Bo this year. He lives within walking distance of a golf course and driving range and is starting to get the itch for golf. This modest bump in the rankings could be just the start of something big.

18. Gwil - Hopefully Gwil can get some rounds in with Bo this spring so we can get some footage of his game. Hard to rank higher until then. Can only live on the glory of yester years for so long.

19. Wid – Doesn’t even matter that he’s last. He will show up to the Bunnathon and contribute more to his team than many golfers ranked ahead of him. If/when Wid ever gets into golf, he has the intangibles and athleticism necessary to thrive. Just a matter of application and reps.
