DelFL Playoffs: Episode XIV

Will it be a new jacket, a 2nd star or even a 3rd star? We will find out in 3 weeks... Good Luck!

#4 White Wolf Owner: Keith Wolf 2019 Season: 8-5 2019 PPG: 450 Playoffs: 0-0 Championships: 0 H2H v. Randy: 0-1 Best Matchup in Round 1: Alshon Jeffrey v NYG Worst Matchup in Round 1: Travis Kelce @ NE

The rookie is in the playoffs, defying the odds and expectations. But, can Keith become the first DelFL Champion to win in his first year (2nd if you count Boner’s Championship in the DelFL’s inaugural 2006 year)? Julio Jones is trending upwards & Jimmy G has a favorable matchup in Week 14 (in the Superdome), so we will see if the late season trades sink or float the White Wolf’s Final Four boat. The White Wolf’s opponent, Randy, has already shown the young pup who’s the Top RanDog in the Division. But the Regular Season has come and gone and the past doesn’t matter anymore. Zeke/Gurley/Julio/Kelce is a Top 4 no one in the DelFL can match, but that won’t stop Keith from pacing all weekend. Brittany better get ready to buy new carpet.

v. #5 COOKie Monster Owner: Randy Evans 2019 Season: 8-5 2019 PPG: 446 Playoffs: 2-3 Championships: 0 H2H v. Keith: 1-0 Best Matchup in Round 1: Dalvin Cook v DET Worst Matchup in Round 1: Dak Prescott @ CHI

The big concern isn’t Dalvin Cook’s shoulder injury, Mattison is a capable replacement. The real concern is that Dalvin Cook might play but Coach Zimmer will give him limited snaps. That scenario presents Randy with a very difficult choice of who to start. It might be the case where Randy would prefer Cook to be ruled out altogether. The juicy matchup against the Lions sieve run defense might be wasted. If Randy doesn’t get it right, he will see another postseason come and go with no Brown Jacket. Of less concern, but surely in the thoughts of Randy this week, is the situation with the Giants. Daniel Jones is out and Eli Manning is in, if Golden Tate plays will this benefit the putative 2nd WR on the COOKie Monster roster? ---------------------------

#3 JYD 3: Electric City Owner: John Kapostasy 2019 Season: 8-5 2019 PPG: 473 Playoffs: 7-3 Championships: 1 H2H v. Billy: 4-6 Best Matchup in Round 1: Nick Chubb v CIN Worst Matchup in Round 1: Lamar Jackson @ BUF

8 straight weeks of scoring 400 points, proves that the electricity pumping out of Cleveland has been consistent and reliable. But will the same electricity flow now that the Playoffs are here? The Dawgs have no doubt, they are poised to make another run at a 2nd star. If Kapo beats 7-6 Billy, he will enter his 5th Final Four in the last 7 years. That is dominance, and gives pause to why the PRC has been calling Birdman the Fantasavant® the past few years. The matchup to watch out for this week is the Browns RB combo against the Bengals’ 25th ranked run defense, if the Dawgs can get 125+ from those two & Sean McDermott doesn’t stifle Lamar Jackson; a showdown of Dawg versus Fish awaits.

v. #6 Rise of the Militant Left Owner: Billy Brown 2019 Season: 7-6 2019 PPG: 435 Playoffs: 1-4 Championships: 0 H2H v. Kapo: 6-4 Best Matchup in Round 1: Leveon Bell v MIA Worst Matchup in Round 1: DJ Chark v LAC

Why write a blurb when you can just copy and paste exactly what was said in this spot last year? “There is an uphill battle to be fought by the Militant Left, perhaps just being able to play in December is enough of a win in itself. First, no 7-6 team has ever made the Finals. Second, no 6 seed has made the Finals. That is a lot of firsts for a team that all the other Playoff teams have been anxious to play in the first round if given the chance. But don't count out the Militant Left.” New year, another 6th seed with a 7-6 record. Billy had thrown the towel in, angering that Owner that awaits the winner of this contest more than anyone. But Billy has picked it up and is waving it around like a Terrible Towel. Can he avoid a 1st round exit like last year?
