The Finals
The Marianne Division sees two of its own square off in the 2018 DelFL Finals, can Kapo show that is truly is the Year of the Dog? #1 JYD 2: Year of the Dog Owner: John Kapostasy 2018 Season: 10-3 2018 PPG: 460 Playoffs: 7-2 Championships: 1 H2H v. Squid: 5-3 Best Matchup in Finals: LeSean McCoy @ NE Worst Matchup in Finals: Mike Evans @ DAL
Quick rundown of Kapo's possible lineup:
QB: Patrick Mahomes (@SEA) The DelFL & putative NFL MVP has a tough matchup in Seattle on Sunday night (forecast is for rain showers and a hungry/youthful Seahawks D). No Dog has more Bark n' Bite than Mahomes. No Dog can knock over the kennel like Mahomes. He is the Top Dog, but, can he put togther one more solid 100+ point performance? RB1: David Johnson (v LAR) has been in a Finals for the Dogs before, albeit a losing campaign. It is funny to think of DJ as the #1 draft pick on the #1 ranked team considering his less than studly year. Kapo stuck with him through thick and thin, but this week he is surely hoping for thickness. RB2: Kalen Ballage (v JAX)? Ballage has been a Dog for only a few hours, but he did have a coming out party last week. But a stingy Jacksonville run defense makes this an interesting start, and one to watch this weekend if McCoy isn't actually plugged in instead. This is the roster spot giving the Dogs the most headaches this week. WR1: Brandin Cooks (@ARI) recent struggles relate more to the recent poor perfromances from QB Jared Goff than anything else. Cooks is a big play type of receiver and the Dogs will need big plays this weekend. Can Goff deliver? WR2: Mike Evans (@DAL) has a very difficult matchup for a player that seems to be Boom or semi-Bust week to week. All the Dogs want for Christmas is for a few big post patterns and one trip to the end zone. Famous Jameis can throw all the picks he likes as long as he can give a Dog a bone. WR3: Robert Foster (@NE) might be in the lineup at the moment but keep your eye on Tim Patrick off the bench in a late minute swap (always nice to have a Monday night player as insurance). Foster does have back to back 100 yard performances, but can a Bills WR actually go for 3 in a row? Do the Dogs trust Josh Allen? TE: Jimmy Graham (@NYJ) probably won't be in the lineup come Sunday, injured or healthy. Instead look for Blake Jarwin to make a surprising Finals appearance & go for 60+ points. This was a sneaky pick up by the Dogs and could be part of the winning formula. D/ST: Vikings D/ST (@DET) should put up 50+ points against the Lions this week. I think the D/ST will be a determining factor in the Finals, something that will make Kapo nervous yet relieved when all is said and done. There is 0% chance of a repeat of the 2015 Giants D/ST disaster repeating itself. K: Harrison Butker (@SEA) Obviously not the most important Chiefs player for the Dogs this week, but Butker is a sneaky offensive weapon. Kapo has nightmares when it comes to kicking in the Finals, you can bet he will be holding his breath with every Butker kick. Could it all come down to kicking again? v. #3 Squidocalypse Now Owner: Jeremy Widman 2018 Season: 10-3 2018 PPG: 475 Playoffs: 3-4 Championships: 0 H2H v. Kapo: 3-5 Best Matchup in Finals: Christian McCaffrey v ATL Worst Matchup in Finals: Kenny Golladay v MIN
Quick rundown of Squid's possible lineup:
QB: Kirk Cousins (v DET) hasn't been the fantasy stalwart Squid thought he would be after his impressive start to the season, Captain Kirk also didn't exactly play well against the Lions the first time around. But this game is in Minnesota and the Lions season is over (and the Vikings have a lot to play for). Squid might have a Thielen that Cousins will pla decently well. RB1: Christian McCaffrey (v ATL) needs to continue to dominate with or without Cam (Taylor Heinicke gets the start for Carolina, as Squid gulps). Atlanta is going to stack the box, it will be interesting to see what the Panthers offense looks like. RB2: Mike Davis (v KC) has the chance to score a lot of points if he can get the carries in a quite crowded Seahawks backfield. The only worrys is if KC gets up early and Seattle abandons the run game. WR1: Julio Jones (@CAR) knows how to win Brown Jackets as Sean can tell you. But Julio is a little banged up this week, does he have enough to go out Sunday and win another Owner a new Brown Jacket? There is the chance for a lot of Julio chants in teh WeChat group. WR2: Kenny Golladay (@MIN) had it going on last week against Buffalo (90+ points). Squid would love to see Stafford target Baby-Tron again as much. However, the Vikings are a tough matchup. WR3: Dede Westbrook (@MIA) along with Mike Davis, is the weakness of this team. If Squid can get a surprising 70+ points from either of those two, Squid will be in the mix. He can ill afford sub-30 point performances from both. TE: George Kittle (v CHI) is the most exciting Tight End in football and this week he goes against the best defense in football. Don't expect 200+ yards again but big players need to play well in big games, regardless of which team is defending him. D/ST: Bills (@NE) get geriatric Tom Brady in the cold this week. Buffalo always gets revved up to play the Patriots nad the pass rush should be fierce. Look for a lot of sacks and a couple fumbles to off set the 30+ points Brady and co. will likely score. K: Sebastian Janikowski (v KC) Of course Janikowski is on Squid's roster as he tries to win the DelFL for the first time. Most of the league wants nothing more than to see both of these legends win this coming weekend. Look out for those kickers Sunday night.
Good Luck to both!
