Stinkymetrics: Amen Corner
Will Billy chunk this season into Rae's Creek?
Folks, we’re at the figurative midway point of the season. Eight weeks in, five to go. But as they say at the Masters, the tournament doesn’t begin until the back nine on Sunday. We’ve walked off Carolina Cherry and will soon reach Amen Corner. Some of us will dump it in Rae’s Creek like Spieth. One man will thread the needle like Mickelson off the pine straw and walk off in a Brown Jacket.
Given this point in the season, time for a look at Stinkymetrics. Who has lucked their way through interdivision play, and is thus overvalued? Who has gotten the short end of the stick and should be primed for a playoff run? Let’s look at the takeaways:
• League Leader Billy (using total points as the tiebreaker over Warren) is right where he should be: 6-2. Just crushing the competition. Best record in the league, best expected record. Many people are saying Billy’s downfall is right around the corner. I don’t see it. This team is the clear favorite.
• No doubt about it: Wooley Bulley is the cream of the crop. In 5 of 8 weeks, the league’s top scorer came from La Famiglia. Mathematics limits this division to going .500 the rest of the way. Expect those wins to be fought over like the Iron Throne.
• The Yucatan division is WIDE open. Birdman and Jesse have had some luck on their side, whereas Bo is right where he belongs. Can Parker and Tony keep up their point outputs and make up ground?
• The Daisy Duke division certainly stinks, but it’s not THAT bad. A lot of low numbers, sure, but they should have pulled out a few more wins than they have. Can anyone in this division stand up to Stinky and Squid? Or will the winner of the Week 10 showdown effectively clinch a playoff spot?
