All My Children
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Zero Fish Playoff Wins.
At a bar in a city that won't be named, I was told by a DelFL Owner who won't be named, the real reason why Tony is 'one of the worst Owners in the DelFL' (his words, not mine). According to this anonymous source, Tony's troubles derive not from bad luck but because of a misguided parental coddling of his drafted and claimed players.
To quote this Owner, "Tony treats his drafted and Free Agent players like his own children, thinking that since he chose them that they must be better than anyone else, and therefore, he cannot trade them or drop them. If they play poorly, it isn't their fault but the unfair result of a chaotic and random football world. Tony continues to make illogical roster decisions by not learning from his past mistakes and, most importantly, not admitting that perhaps the players he has chosen are not the impeccable Adonis's he considers them all to be. "
This 'helicopter managing' has the same losing effects of the 'My Boy' bias. Tony is the fantasy football equivalent of a delusional parent screaming at referees/coaches from the sidelines because of their son or daughters perceived mistreatment. Tony's decision to start Dwayne Washington this week, and not dumping Deangleo Williams, is the perfect example of an overvaluation of players. Tony also hasn't made a trade since 2013. It is tough to trade with someone who has such high valuations, not to mention filial affection, for their roster.
Tony will chalk up his latest loss to more bad luck. But maybe instead it is time for filicide.
