Stinkymetrics: 2015
Stinky analyzes the 2015 season
To Tony’s delight, the luckiest team in 2015 was none other than the Bo Outlawz (spoiler: this is a common theme…). Bo’s actual record outpaced his expected performance by nearly 2 full wins. Luck was a significant factor in keeping his record above .500 last year. Rough year for Bo overall, with only one occurrence of placing in the top 6 in scoring for a given week.
Technically speaking, nobody got more boned in 2015 on their schedule than Sean. It wouldn’t have mattered in the end as 6-7 isn’t good enough to make the playoffs, but this team was far better than that 4-9 record suggests. Sean placed in the top 6 in scoring in five different weeks, which should have defined the floor for his win total this year. And even so, his output wasn’t good enough to get a bid into the Giorgio Cup. For shame.
Practically speaking, Del BY FAR had the unluckiest season. The most astonishing takeaway from Stinkymetrics is that Del placed in the top 6 in scoring in a week NINE different times (by comparison, Birdman and Jesse each only accomplished this seven times). That should easily be good enough for at least 9 wins (which is what his expected record suggests). Even more, Del should have been the #1 overall seed, yet didn’t even make the playoffs. Some teams crumbled when injuries came knocking (like the author’s when Edelmen and Freeman got hurt). Looking back, Del’s team was torched by injuries in week 8, yet he was able to put out a sterling roster and placed in the top 6 in scoring three out of the last 5 weeks. Del may have two Brown Jackets, but 2015 was his most impressive managing performance in my book.
