Guys and Luck Trolls
Lady Luck never wants to date Tony
In Tony's version of fantasy football, every Owner is in a stochastic vacuum where winning and losing is dependent on a random roll of the dice. And poor Tony has been on the pass line throwing Boxcars for 11 years. Stinky, who is 9-23 in his last 32 games, agrees that Luck has in an un-Lady like way, run out on him the last 3 years (see: Stinkymetrics).
Luck is definitely a major factor in the DelFL and it can come and go. Whether Luck or Lady, Tony has gotten the brush a lot in years past. That is irrefutable. But is luck truly the be-all and end-all of the DelFL? Has Bo been rolling 7's to a 61% winning percentage, and if so, when will he crap out?
Of course all this luck talk this past week has been exaggerated. Tony is just a bad appraiser of football talent. Every Owner has had at one point lost a star player to IR. Every Owner has at one point lost a game despite scoring 500+ points. Every Owner has (numerous times) started a higher projected player only to see the guy he benched go for a big point total. Tony's table is always cold not because of unlucky throws of the dice, but because he drafts the wrong players, he adds/drops the wrong players, he doesn't make the necessary trade, he doesn't start the right people & he plays in a division in which his rivals do all of those things better.
So what if Lady Luck continues to forget her manners? What if she refuses to stay? To paraphrase Sky Masterson, "And so the best that Fish can do is pray."
