The Unknown Controversy
How exactly is the DelFL Schedule determined?
The futile yet necessary process which has overtaken the League Poll will soon come to an end, but before Del wraps up the rules review I’d like to bring attention to one of the most important ‘settings’ that’s always overlooked and brushed aside: The Schedule.
Like it or not, The Schedule will, in some way, decide the fate of your fantasy season. Look at 2013 where 5,961 were enough points to win a Brown Jacket. Compare that to 5900 points in 2012, earning Anthony a 4-9 finish and top 5 pick the following year. The two seasons weren’t separated by talent or managerial skill but by Points Against; 6379 in 2012, 4933 in 2013.
So with that in mind I ask: Does anyone know how the schedule is created? Specifically, can someone explain the schedule creation process start to finish? How can Del ensure us that his weekly pairings are impartial? From what I know the pairing process isn’t random, but that isn’t to say it’s unfair either.
In my opinion, The Schedule has a greater impact on your season than positional roster caps, extra bench spots, or the flex position. Yet it is rarely mentioned during the annual rules review, and no one knows anything of its origins.
So I’m asking Del to pull back the curtain and show us exactly how he puts this thing together. Let me be clear, I’m not complaining about the current schedule, or the current process Del uses to created the schedule. I’m asking for transparency over this process and then we can decide as a community whether or not it’s preferable.
