Good Jay, Bad Jay
There is no J in Andrew, but there is always a Jay on the Baby Seals
In life, you don't choose your family. Just ask the Birchmeiers, who unlike the Wohls, didn't conceive a talented athlete with their first son. In the DelFL, you do choose your quarterback. It can be a good choice or a bad choice, but the decision is yours, along with the consequences. There isn't even the yoke of the perpetual keeper league binding you to a certain player for multiple years. But there is one Owner who doesn’t have the luxury of free choice.
Andrew is bound by a fraternal pledge to the caprices of fellow Vanderbilt Commodore and current Chicago Bear's QB, Jay Cutler. Surely, Andrew could start someone else (say Derek Carr), but Andrew knows the incompleteness he would feel by winning the Brown Jacket without Cutler behind center. It is an obligation, through good times and bad. Only retirement or a career ending injury can unshackle Andrew.
Therefore Jay & Andrew's destinies are intertwined in every errant pass, every avoidable sack and the apathetic shrug following a botched play. Cutler isn’t completely an anchor as last week’s comeback win in KC proves. Andrew has made a Finals (2007) and Semifinals (2014) with the Vandy gunslinger. There is hope & things can eventually workout. Just ask the Birchmeiers, who eventually birthed their talented athlete with their second son.
