Expansion is a virus, one that the Commissioner can't help but spread each summer.

When the 3 animal rights activists in '28 Days Later' break into the Cambridge lab and release the rage-virus infected chimpanzee, they believe they are doing the right thing. Consequences such as viral epidemics are always anachronistically realized. Maybe, just maybe, you should think before you act.

I am also known for my impetuous acts and decrees. Whether it is calling out Andrew and Birdman for collusion or trying to impartially arbitrate a midseason trade, I don't allow enough time to think before acting. Never is this more evident than my annual attempt to peremptorily shove expansion down the throat of the DelFL. Without properly understanding the consequences and a helpless belief that I always know what is best, I continually infect the DelFL with expansion talks each summer.

Sure enough, before August 1st, I had Jeff quitting and Andrew threatening to quit. This is my fault. Therefore, I am putting a moratorium on expansion until Tommy is old enough to play. The anit-expansionists should save this story as a vaccine against any future attempt at expansion that doesn't include my young cousin.

So now that the expansion virus has been flushed out of our system, with Jeff and Andrew back in tow, let's have another great year and let's figure out a time for our 18 teams to draft.
